This past month, The Cambridge School received a $1 million gift to establish “The City on a Hill Endowment.” This generous gift by City Hill Foundation provides long-term support for the school in its mission to educate students who live purposefully and wisely in service of God and neighbor. In addition to the initial gift, the Foundation is offering an incentive matching challenge, where $1 is matched for every $3 donated, to help establish a total initial corpus of up to $5 million. The City on a Hill Endowment is intended to provide an ongoing source of income for the school in perpetuity.
Cambridge Founder and Head of School, Jean Kim, said: “It is highly unusual for a school of our size and age to receive such a large gift to start an endowment. We are very grateful that the City Hill Foundation has deemed our young school and its formative impact on students and families, worthy of such an investment. The Foundation’s generosity will provide long term sustainability and stability for the school.” Fewer than 10% of private Christian schools have an endowment, and even fewer have ones large enough to impact the day to day operations.
The Cambridge School is a classical Christian school in the Rancho Penasquitos area of San Diego. Established in 2006, it serves Junior Kindergarten through 12thgrade students.
